The Yeti #shifter has some amazing tricks up his sleeve! #Bigfoot romance

Some say the Yeti or Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman as many call him, is a missing link along the human evolutionary line. Either that or he's a special type of gigantic ape who lives in the forest or else the lonely snow covered mountains, always alone, always dodging human contact. He's at once a legend and a mystery that time has never unraveled. Will we ever find the answer?

Well, I for one have always been intrigued by unsolvable mysteries so I figured, why not write a Yeti shifter romance? And who better to pair such a painfully shy creature with than a nosy reporter? One determined to gain fame and fortune from her big discovery, even if it costs her life?

Fortunately for her, the Yeti has other plans. He's also got some special features to help him out. Check these fancy skills:

1. He's got silky soft long white hair.
2. His penis is ribbed!
3. He has extra padding on his feet and hands to be able to traverse the ice.
4. Even his eyes have a special covering sort of like a cat's.
5. He's also got some high-tech devices to get him around from place to place.

Check out these features and learn more about the secret Yeti world in Saved by the Yeti, out now.

Reporter Kaylee Vonn is determined to prove Yetis exist. Not even avalanche danger and certain death can deter her from her goal. But her plans are thrown awry by the handsome, towering shopkeeper Pete. She's sure he has a secret line to the Yeti. She doesn't know how right she is...

From the moment he meets the nosy reporter, Pete knows she'd make a perfect mate. Except if she exposes his ancient race's secrets, she'll die. Can he stop her snooping before she does something stupid and pays the ultimate price?

Excerpt:

Still in Yeti form, Roshan burst through the portal at a breakneck run, body burning with internal fire. The beast inside roared and clamored with urgency, demanding he find Kaylee immediately. He hadn’t forgotten her occupation nor her goal — to expose his people — but his beast didn’t care Kaylee wasn’t proper mate material. It desired Kaylee, and its yearning grew louder and more alarm-filled by the second. Worry churning in his gut, he stepped out on top of the mountain.

Snow and driving wind hit him full-force, making a clear line of sight difficult for even him. Using the magic of the ancients, he hummed the song to slow the elements and make his trek easier. When the downfall abated, chill air swept around him. Close to dark, the mountain would be uninhabitable for all but the hardiest critters in no time. With little time left, he scurried down the hill toward the cabin, praying Kaylee had enough sense to have remained there during his absence.

On each of his steps his oversized feet and claws sank in and held. He did not worry about the steepness of the slope for he had excellent balance. The thick coating of fur kept him warm and so did the exercise, so he would not freeze. But his heart was still broken by the death he’d seen. Needing to assure himself of the beauty of life, he pounded down the mountain. Kaylee would be there. She’d cure his aching soul.

Mate. He clenched his jaw and ignored his beast but again it howled, this time louder. Mate!

The beast’s shrill alarm call stopped him in his tracks. He looked around and sniffed the air but found nothing. Annoyed, he shook his head. His beast had gone overboard, that’s all. Before he resumed his descent he looked down and saw a faint hint of tracks. Human tracks. Kaylee’s? Holy ancients, no. It can’t be. But despair curled low in his guts, filling him with dread.

Anxious, he followed the prints down the hill to where they stopped. He saw the flattened hillside and followed it down. At the bottom, he found no Kaylee. Instinct whispered to keep searching. With every step, his blood chilled. Would he find Kaylee’s body out here in this horrible storm? He clenched his padded hands and gave a low roar. The mountain shook. A ball of snow hidden under a jutting rock moved and wobbled to standing.  Shock hit him. The slim form barely clinging to the mountain was Kaylee.

He raced across the steep slope and grabbed her before her unsteady limbs could collapse. Wrapping his arms around her, he swallowed a cry of relief and squeezed her tight to his chest. Her face burrowed into his hairy shoulder, her chilled face like ice. He brushed his thick ape-like lips over her cheek, silently assuring her he’d keep her safe, then carried his precious cargo down the slippery hill. Each step brought her closer to warmth and safety but every second she spent in his arms solidified his beast’s claim. She’s out here because she wants us. I want her. She’s mine.

What Is Paranormal?

What do you consider paranormal? One free online dictionary defines paranormal as: Something very strange and not able to be explained by what scientists know about nature and the world. Another definition is: Not scientifically explainable or supernatural.

When we think about it, things we deem paranormal are pretty much anything that isn’t what the majority of humans would consider “normal”. If that’s the case, why do so many of us "normal people" love to read stories and watch T.V. or movies about something so strange?

Is it because our minds are constantly in some weird state of flux? Are we constantly and\or subconsciously working on the problems that are unique to the characters who interest us?

Maybe it has something to do with the characters’ sometimes over-the-top supernatural powers or do we just enjoy reading about people who can do all the things we would secretly like to be able to do ourselves?

I tend to think that perhaps, it’s just that we enjoy reading stories about people who are just a little more screwed up than we are.

Over the years I’ve seen vampires and werewolves, zombies and aliens, to name a few. Each of these paranormal entities have cycled through our books and T.V. shows not to mention the big screen. After their few hours of fame, we fickle readers and viewers move along to another sub genre, almost tirelessly searching for something new, better or possibly even stranger than the last.

The best way I have ever seen the word paranormal described was in a dictionary I read long ago. It defined paranormal as: Anything other than normal. If that’s the case, my dear readers, welcome to the dark side because normal is overrated.

Beyond Werewolves

Beyond Werewolves
by Kate Hill

Maybe because I grew up watching old horror movies like The Wolfman, when I hear the word shapeshifter, the first creature I think of is the werewolf. While I'm certainly a fan of werewolf movies and I love those hairy beasts in paranormal romance, they're not the only type of shifter that works as a romance hero.

With so many animals that would make interesting alter egos for book characters, it's not surprising to find sexy cat shifters, horse shifters, and even shifters with aquatic qualities.

Shifters aren't limited to animals. Some can change into just about anything. Shifters beyond werewolves have been around for ages. Examples include the shapeshifter Loki from Viking mythology and skin walkers from Native American legends. Shapeshifters also appear in several fairytales, such as Beauty and the Beast, The Frog Prince and The Little Mermaid.

Some shifters are able to change shape by choice, whether through magic or because it's natural to their species. Others are forced into shifting because of a curse. Whatever their reason for shifting, they make fascinating, sexy characters. Paranormal romance is about fantasy and few creatures are more fantastic than shifters.

What kind of shifters are your favorite?

Excerpt from Tiger Fork (Writing as Saloni Quinby)

Tiger Fork
by Saloni Quinby
(M/M Shapeshifter)

A man-tiger stalks the forest near a village living in fear. To destroy the beast, they send the warrior Han, who wields the tiger fork, a weapon from ancient Earth.

He finds Bo, a gorgeous beast out to protect his species from extinction. When their intended battle to the death ends in sex instead, they risk their lives to bring peace to their two warring worlds. Will they succeed, or will the lovers be forced to destroy each other?

Excerpt:

The beast attacked first and Han maneuvered his weapon, jabbing and feinting, manipulating the man-tiger into his desired position. Then he drove the creature back and with a roar of surprise and rage it dropped into the deadly trap Han had prepared days ago.

To Han's dismay, the man-tiger caught hold of several twisted vines attached to a nearby tree. He clung to them, trying to pull himself out of the hole in the ground before he fell onto the dozens of spikes below. Han had concealed the trap well, covering it with branches and leaves. Just as he'd hoped, in the heat of battle, the man-tiger hadn't noticed it. It should have ensured his death--a grotesque and painful one for such a majestic rival, but Han's demise would have been no less horrible if the man-tiger had won the fight.

Now all Han had to do was finish it.

Still clinging to his tiger fork, he walked toward the beast who struggled, weakened by his wounds and loss of blood. The vines started to snap beneath his weight and he sank a little deeper into the hole. He paused, panting, and lifted his gaze toward Han.

They stared at each other for several heartbeats. Then the man-tiger did something unexpected. His face and form shifted and changed until, within seconds, Han faced a man who looked every bit as human as Han himself.

Stunned, Han almost dropped his weapon. He had no idea the man-tiger had the power to change. His heart pounding, he stared at the man.

Damp tendrils of long blond hair clung to his thick neck and shoulders. Muscles strained in his big arms as he struggled to pull himself out of the hole. If he had been at full strength, Han knew the beast would have already escaped and probably killed him.

Why did Han hesitate to destroy him? He thought of the slain hunters--human hunters--and tried to muster the courage to stab the beast with his tiger fork and send him to a well deserved death.

Yet it was no longer a beast he faced, but a man--one who was obviously desperate to survive, but his expression didn't beg. He regarded Han with the quiet dignity of a worthy foe who now accepted defeat.

At that moment, Han realized he couldn't let the fight end like this. The man-tiger was no longer just a beast to him, but an equal.

With a final tremendous effort, the man-tiger pulled himself upward until, just as the last vine snapped, he sank his fingers into the ground.

On impulse, Han curled his hands around the man-tiger's thick wrists and pulled with his remaining strength.

Together they managed to haul him out of the pit.
